Link: The young hero of our epic story (as if you couldn't already tell). Young Link lives peacefully on Outset Island with his grandmother and younger sister Aryll, enjoying simple childhood pleasures such as goofing off with the neighborhood kids and napping at the docks. But on his birthday, a momentous occaision where boys of Link's age are considered to be men, Aryll is kidnapped by mistake by the Helmaroc King. Now Link must journey through the dangerous terrain of the ocean to save his sister and become the new hero of Hyrule.

Aryll: Link's younger, energetic, and all around adorable sister who loves and looks up to her older brother. On the day of his birthday she even loans him her most prized possession: her telescope. But the joyous celebration is cut short when Aryll is kidnapped by the Helmaroc King instead of Tetra. Now she must await for her big brother's heroic rescue, her only companions being a flock of seagulls.

Grandma: Link and Aryll's grandmother who raised them on Outset Island. Grieve stricken by the sudden kidnap of her granddaughter, Grandma entrusts Link to rescue her and return safely to their island home.

Tetra: Pirate queen extradinare and leader of a group of unnamed and colorful pirates, Tetra never backs down in the name of treasure or adventure. She's stubborn and tough, but feels guilty that Aryll was kidnapped in her stead, so she allows Link to board her ship and make what she believes a pointless attempt to save his sister. The other pirates greatly respect (or fear?) her, taking order whenever she commands.

Princess Zelda: The benevolent ruler of Hyrule and, once again, the target of Ganondorf. She remains pretty mysterious through most of the game, and is revealed later...

King of Red Lions: Link's magical talking boat who aids him through his quest on the high seas. Whether it be spreading his wisdom, advising Link on his next move, or assisting in uncovering sunken treasure with his crane, King of Red Lions is a valuable and trusted companion of Link's.

Ganondorf: He's baaaccckkk...The evil Gerudo desert king has returned, his sights set once again on the land of Hyrule. The last time he resurfaced, no hero came to the Hylian's aid. Now he must face Link once again as he attempts to steal away the sacred Triforce and claim Hyrule for his own.
